BASSO COULD RETURN FOR BRISTOL

Brazilian is in contention.

Goalkeeper Adriano Basso could be available for selection when Bristol City host Doncaster at Ashton Gate on Saturday.

The Brazilian limped out of the Robins' 2-1 home defeat to Birmingham in midweek after 37 minutes with a calf problem.

Basso is making progress in his recovery but Chris Weale is on standby.

Marvin Elliott (knee) was on the bench against Birmingham and also came through 90 minutes for the reserves on Wednesday, and the midfielder could be in the squad again at the weekend.

Brian Wilson will resume training next week after his shin splints problem.

Darren Byfield, Jason Price, Stuart Elliott and Paul Heffernan are all vying to replace injured striker Gareth Taylor in the Doncaster side for the trip to Bristol.

Taylor is expected to be ruled out for around three weeks with a hamstring injury sustained during the 1-0 defeat Charlton in midweek.

Byfield would appear the favourite to start against his former club at Ashton Gate after featuring heavily as a substitute against the Addicks and at Birmingham last weekend.

Defensive duo Sean McDaid (knee) and Gordon Greer (hip) are both unlikely to feature, although the latter has now returned to training and is closing in on a first-team return.
