Doncaster chairman John Ryan believes Sean O'Driscoll's men are "the best footballing side in the league without a shadow of a doubt".

Ryan has also backed Rovers to end a three-game losing streak against Southampton at the Keepmoat Stadium on Saturday.

"I am more than confident that the squad that we have is capable of competing at this level," said Ryan.

"I think that we are the best footballing side in the league without a shadow of a doubt."

He added to the Sheffield Star: "In all fairness we've played most of the top teams but two of our next three games are against Southampton and Barnsley, who are both struggling.

"I said to Sean [O'Driscoll] that we really need at least a win and a draw from our next two home games and the best way to achieve that would be to beat Southampton on Saturday and draw against Sheffield United on Tuesday."
