O'Driscoll: Waiting on Mills
Doncaster boss Sean O'Driscoll will hand a late fitness test to defender Matt Mills ahead of the home clash with Southampton.
The 22-year-old, who joined Rovers from Manchester City on a permanent basis in the summer and started out as a trainee with the Saints, is still struggling with a calf problem sustained during the 4-1 defeat at Bristol City last weekend.
Adam Lockwood came off the bench to replace Mills at Ashton Gate and would appear favourite to deputise again if needed.
Striker Gareth Taylor (torn hamstring) remains ruled out for Rovers along with Sean McDaid (dislocated knee).
Darren Byfield made his first start for the club against the Robins last Saturday and should continue in the side as Rovers battle to avoid a fourth straight defeat in the Championship.
Simon Gillett and Morgan Schneiderlin are injury doubts ahead of Southampton's trip.
Gillett (leg) and fellow midfielder Schneiderlin (hamstring) missed Tuesday night's humbling Carling Cup defeat at Rotherham and could be struggling for Saints' second trip to Yorkshire in a week.
Kelvin Davis will return in goal after being rested in midweek while Stern John, who climbed off the bench to score in the 3-1 defeat, will push for a start.
Teenager Oliver Lancashire is available after serving a three-match ban for his debut red card at QPR, and fellow centre-half Michael Svensson's troublesome knee will be checked over as usual.
Winger Lee Holmes, defender Wayne Thomas (both knee) and midfielder Jason Euell (shoulder) are all long-term absentees.
