Torres: Expects tough battle

Fernando Torres is confident Liverpool can win the Premier League this season but he accepts success will require the best football in Europe.

The Reds are hoping to end an 18-year wait for a domestic league title, but Torres recognises he and his team-mates will have their work cut out.

Spain striker Torres has labelled the 'big four' of Manchester United, Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool as the best sides on the continent at present.

And the 24-year-old acknowledges that Liverpool will need to be at the top of their game if they are to finish ahead of the pack in England.

"I believe we can win the Premier League or the UEFA Champions League," Torres told LFC Magazine.

"Arsenal produce great football, Liverpool and Chelsea are very difficult teams to play against and Manchester United played fantastically well last year.

"All the teams have different styles but are equally effective.

"I think the four biggest teams in England are now the best in Europe.

"We have a good chance of doing well but it won't be easy to finish above any of the other three sides."
