BAYERN IN FOR BERBA?
While most papers reckon Dimitar Berbatov's move to Manchester United will probably happen (more on that here), assorted rags claim that Bayern Munich are set to make a late move for the striker.
Slightly oddly, most papers seem to rather gloss over that little nugget, mentioning it in passing as they charge on with the more important business of the United move.
That suggests Fleet Street don't really think it's going to happen, but as a public service we feel it's important to let you know these things.
VELOSO FOR SPURS
White Hart Lane is usually a pretty interesting place on transfer deadline day, and it looks like Monday will be no exception.
Along with the Berbatov/Pavlyuchenko/Arshavin shenanigans that you already know about, a couple more players could be arriving by Monday.
The Daily Mirror claims Spurs are toying with making a late plunge for Sporting Lisbon midfielder/defender Miguel Veloso, who has been a target for a whole bunch of clubs over the past few months.
Also, Vedran Corluka's move from Manchester City might well happen before the midnight hour on Monday, what with Pablo Zabaleta on his way to Eastlands from Espanyol.
VILLA MAKE LATE ASHTON BID
Very interesting line from The Daily Mirror, who claim that Aston Villa, fresh from splashed around £10million on James Milner, will make a late bid for someone for Milner to aim his crosses at.
That man is Dean Ashton, who the paper claims Villa have already had a £12million bid rejected for, but will come back with a little bit more before Monday.
Having missed out on Roque Santa Cruz, the Mirror claims Martin O'Neill will go all in for Ashton, but should West Ham say no dice then a bid for PSG's Peguy Luyindula might come.
PENNANT TO BLACKBURN
It's surprising that it's taken them this long, but it looks like Blackburn will be making a move for Liverpool's Jermaine Pennant before the clock strikes 12 on Monday.
Paul Ince wants to get the man who is probably third or fourth choice right-winger at Anfield, having failed in a bid for Valenica's Joaquin.
