SETANTA AND ITV AGREE HIGHLIGHTS DEAL

SETANTA AND ITV AGREE HIGHLIGHTS DEAL

Setanta have finally agreed a deal with ITV to show highlights for England's remaining away World Cup qualifiers.

The broadcasters only reached an agreement for highlights the day after England's 4-1 win over Croatia, but now The Daily Mail reports a deal has been reached between ITV and Setanta.

The qualifiers against Belarus on October 15, and Kazakhstan and Ukraine next year will now be shown on ITV shortly after the live coverage ends.

Setanta were thought to be asking for £1million for the rights to highlights before the Andorra and Croatia games earlier in September, but both the BBC and ITV refused to meet their demands.

A belated agreement was reached for the Croatia game, and Setanta did agree to show free highlights on their own channel after the game, but neither were widely advertised so many missed one of the best England performances in years.
