INJURY WOE FOR DAVIDSON

INJURY WOE FOR DAVIDSON

Davidson - looks set to miss out.

Callum Davidson's hopes of a first Scotland cap for almost six years appear to have been dashed for now after he was injured playing for Preston on Saturday afternoon.

The 32-year-old defender, who last played for his country in October 2002, hurt his knee during his club's 2-0 Championship victory over Crystal Palace.

The problem has made Davidson - who was substituted 17 minutes from time today - a major doubt for Wednesday's friendly against Northern Ireland at Hampden Park.

The player had been one of three surprise call-ups for the game by Scotland boss George Burley, alongside Derby's Kris Commons and Falkirk captain Darren Barr.

Preston boss Alan Irvine admitted the prognosis for Davidson did not look good and he may not link up with his international colleagues.

"I'll speak to George Burley but it's disappointing for Callum," Irvine said.
