Mark Hughes - still on the lookout.
Manchester City manager Mark Hughes insists he is close to settling on a preferred first XI, but will look to add to his squad right up until the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
Hughes saw his side draw 1-1 with Celtic on Wednesday night, and now they take on AC Milan at home in the Thomas Cook trophy at the weekend, then FC Midtjylland in the UEFA Cup before their opening Barclays Premier League game of the season away to Aston Villa.
He said: "The game against Celtic was exactly what we needed.
"We have had a decent pre-season; we have had good quality opposition and competitive games as well, and I think we saw the benefits against Celtic.
"I am quite close to my first XI now.
"If good players become available and we have the means to bring them to the club, then we will try and do that.
"We still have time. I've done business right up until the last minute of transfer windows in the past, so it may well be that we will have to do that again."
