ROQUE SET FOR ROVERS STAY

Santa Cruz - set to stay at Rovers.

Roque Santa Cruz appears set to stay at Blackburn Rovers as Benni McCarthy claims he is wanted by Galatasaray.

Paraguayan striker Santa Cruz has been linked with a reunion with former Rovers boss Mark Hughes at Manchester City.

Arsenal and Manchester United are also rumoured to be keen on Santa Cruz, but the former Bayern Munich forward appears happy to stay.

And the 26-year-old says his decision is not based on the fact that Blackburn are reportedly close to signing his brother Julio.

"The fact that it has all come together now is nothing to do with me staying here," said Santa Cruz in The Sun amid reports his younger sibling will sign a three-year deal at Ewood Park.

"But to have family over here gives you a better feeling because you don't feel so far away from Paraguay."

Meanwhile, Santa Cruz's strike partner at Ewood Park - McCarthy - is reportedly a target for Turkish giants Galatasaray.

McCarthy was in and out of the Blackburn side last season, although he says he has not received an offer to leave Rovers.

He said in the Daily Mail: "I'm unaware of any offer, but it doesn't surprise me because my friend Tugay told me I was on their shopping list two months ago."
