FULHAM STANCE CONFUSES BULLARD

Jimmy Bullard says he has been left 'confused' by Fulham's stance regarding a new contract.

The midfielder had been keen to discuss an extension to his present deal at Craven Cottage, which has two years left to run.

However, speaking at a press conference to present new signing Andy Johnson earlier in the week, Fulham boss Roy Hodgson said the club would not enter into negotiations with players who have at least two years remaining on their current deals.

Bullard, who has been linked with a return to former club Wigan Athletic, believes it is the right time to open talks over an extension.

"I've been told the club want me, but then when I went to talk about a contract they aren't interested, so I've been left confused," Bullard told The People.

"I spoke to Fulham about an extended contract and they weren't willing to give me one until I came closer to the end of my current deal.

"I've got two years left and I felt it was a normal time to start talking about a new one. Two years isn't long in football terms."
