SHIELD TEAMS TO SHOW RESPECT

Manchester United and Portsmouth's players will all wear 'Respect' shirts during the warm-up to Sunday's Community Shield at Wembley.

Football Association chief executive Brian Barwick launched the initiative, aimed at gaining more respect for referees throughout the game, earlier this week.

Sunday represents the first showpiece occasion at which the campaign can be viewed and Soho Square officials are eager to make the most of their opportunity.

In addition to the T-shirts, the teams will wear Respect sleeve badges on their kit during the game.

Ball boys will wear Respect branded shirts, with perimeter advertising also installed, while broadcasters Setanta will feature Respect programming in their build-up to the game.

England coach Fabio Capello has also leant his support to the project and will offer words of encouragement on the big screens at both ends of the pitch.
