REDKNAPP: PLAYERS CAN BECOME LEGENDS

Harry Redknapp has challenged his Portsmouth players to make themselves into club legends ahead of the FA Cup final against Cardiff.

Pompey go into the final as clear favourites against the Championship side, although their poor recent form will be a concern to Redknapp.

However, Redknapp hopes his side will rise to the occasion at Wembley and ensure they go down in Pompey folklore.

He told the Portsmouth News: "It's the FA Cup final. If you can score in an FA Cup final you'll never be forgotten. But for all these lads, tomorrow is a chance to make themselves legends at this football club. They can write their names in history.

"What they achieve tomorrow can make them heroes with the fans.

"The players know what's at stake, they know what they are doing and they will be ready for Wembley to go out there and win the Cup.

And despite their indifferent recent run, Redknapp has no complaints about how his squad have geared up for the biggest game in the club's recent history:

"We have been preparing as best as we can and everything's gone well in the build-up.

"Now they've just got to go out and play. When they go out on to that pitch it's down to them completely. There's not a lot more I can do.

"These players have been absolutely brilliant this season - they have never let me down. They are good lads and that's why we will be there tomorrow.

"It's important not to get carried away by the occasion.

"They were nervous to begin with against West Brom and I am sure there will be nerves tomorrow - it's Wembley isn't it?

"It's been a great season and I am proud of all of them. They always rise to the occasion and we have a real chance of bringing this Cup back."
