Hunt - supporter's player of the year.
With Premier League safety secured, Sunderland are ready to renew their interest in Reading winger Stephen Hunt.
The Black Cats saw a £3million move rebuffed during the January transfer window but are ready to test the Royals' resolve with a fresh approach.
The Republic of Ireland international had appeared certain to stay at the Madejski Stadium, but with Reading's top flight status hanging in the balance he has once again become a target from elsewhere.
It would be difficult to see Steve Coppell being able to retain the player should the club slip into the Championship, but the supporters' player of the year has revealed that he will be doing all he can at Derby on Sunday to ensure that relegation does not become a reality.
"It is great to know the fans appreciate what you have done, but we have reached a critical stage of the season," Hunt said.
"I'd give the award away if it meant staying up.
"Derby is a massive game, certainly the biggest since I have been at Reading.
"People expect us to win easily, but it is wrong to think like that. They will be disappointed with their season and will want to give the fans something to cheer.
"We have to be prepared for a tough game."
