COPPELL EXPECTS NO SALES

Coppell - 'nothing is happening'.

Reading manager Steve Coppell does not expect to sell any of his squad before the start of the Championship season next weekend.

Coppell has only lost Dave Kitson to Stoke this summer and has warned managers that any sales after the start of the season will cost them more.

He said: "I speak to [director of football] Nick Hammond almost every day and really, nothing is happening.

"There could be certain players who are the target of Premier League clubs so we could be exposed with less than a week to go before the season starts, but I'm not anticipating any action.

"I know the transfer window is open until the end of August but if business is going to be done after our season starts we won't have time to adjust.

"That means a lot more money, there will be a premium. I think Premier League clubs can appreciate that from all Championship clubs."
