THATCHER ON TRIAL AT HAMMERS

Thatcher - Hammers trial.

Former Charlton defender Ben Thatcher has been handed a trial with West Ham after being released by the Addicks this summer.

The 32-year-old left-back, who is a free agent after his contract at The Valley expired, played 74 minutes as a trialist for a West Ham XI in a 2-0 win at Bishop's Stortford.

Thatcher joined Charlton from Manchester City in January 2007 for £500,000 and made 22 appearances, although he missed a large chunk of last season with a knee injury.

The Wales international has also been on trial at Ipswich and Wolves since leaving the Addicks.
