WIGAN MOVE FOR GREEK DEFENDER

Wigan have reportedly made an enquiry for Greek defender Socratis Papastathopoulos.

The 22-year-old is highly-rated and has already been linked with the likes of Manchester United, Arsenal Juventus, Villarreal, Monaco and Ajax.

AEK Athens are ready to listen to offers but they will not entertain anything less than €3.5million (£2.8million).

Wigan are believed to have made contact with Papastathopoulos' representatives and confirmed their interest.

AEK are now awaiting further developments from Wigan, although there are a number of clubs from throughout Europe keeping close tabs on him, according to Skysports.com.

Papastathopoulos is set to feature in Euro 2008 for defending champions Greece.
