BROWN DISMISSES TRANSFER TALK

Brown - is happy at Wigan.

Michael Brown has rejected rumours linking him with a move away from Wigan.

Premier League new boys Stoke and West Brom and Championship outfit Sheffield United have all been linked with a move for the former Manchester City midfielder.

Wigan's signing of Lee Cattermole has increased speculation over Brown's future at the JJB Stadium, but the experienced midfielder says he is ready to battle for his spot in Steve Bruce's starting XI.

"I got a text message over the weekend from a mate saying they'd read something about Stoke," Murphy told the Wigan Observer.

"It was the first I knew about it. I enjoy it here and I'm looking forward to the new season.

"Of course I welcome the competition. It keeps you on your toes knowing you've got to play well to stay in the side."
