Heskey celebrates his goal for Wigan.

On-loan striker Amr Zaki gave Wigan fans a glimpse of his predatory instincts by scoring a late winner against a competitive Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough.

Egypt forward Zaki, a second-half substitute for Steve Bruce's side, calmly slotted home from Henri Camara's assist to give the Latics victory against their Championship hosts.

Emile Heskey had earlier put Wigan ahead when he headed home from a Daniel de Ridder corner after 17 minutes.

That lead lasted just two minutes as Jermaine Johnson finished a fine run by slotting past Carlo Nash in the Wigan goal.

De Ridder's set-piece delivery then handed the visitors the advantage for a second time, defender Titus Bramble nodding goalwards on this occasion.

Maynor Figueroa then conceded a penalty, which Deon Burton dispatched to make it 2-2 before Zaki's match-winning intervention.
