ROWLANDS MISSES RANGERS OPENER

Rowlands - still suspended.

Iain Dowie's new-look QPR side will be without captain Martin Rowlands when they host Barnsley at Loftus Road.

Rowlands misses Dowie's first three matches in charge through suspension due to his sending-off in the final game of last season against West Brom.

Centre-half Damion Stewart serves the final game of a three-match ban while loan signing Samuel Di Carmine also sits out with a one-game suspension carried over from playing for Fiorentina last season.

Rowan Vine is still recovering from a broken leg and Akos Buzsaky is out following ankle surgery over the summer. Defender Matthew Connolly is struggling with an ankle problem.

Radek Cerny will battle with Lee Camp for the goalkeeper's jersey and fellow new signings Peter Ramage, Kaspars Gorkss, Lee Cook, Emmanuel Ladesma, Matteo Alberti and on-loan Real Madrid starlet Daniel Parejo could all be involved.

Barnsley will be without Jamal Campbell-Ryce, Heinz Muller and Anderson De Silva for the opening-day trip.

Winger Campbell-Ryce suffered a serious elbow injury during training and will be ruled out for at least 10 days. If he has suffered a break the Jamaica international could be sidelined for two months.

Goalkeeper Muller is three to four weeks away from a return to action following knee ligament damage sustained in January. Luke Steele will start in goal for the Tykes.

Brazilian midfielder De Silva underwent knee surgery towards the end of last season and is also aiming for a return next month.

Manager Simon Davey is hoping to receive international clearance for Argentinian summer signing Hugo Colace and Peruvian Miguel Mostto.

Defender Darren Moore, striker Iain Hume and midfielder Mounir El Haimour could all make their competitive debuts.
