Birmingham boss Alex McLeish has confirmed he hopes to bring some new players into the club by the end of the week.

Blues are expected to sign Kemy Agustien on loan from AZ Alkmaar to add to Lee Carsley, Kevin Phillips and Marcus Bent, but McLeish is eager to supplement his squad further.

He told the club's official website: "I'm trying to do some deals at the moment to give the fans a bit of interest.

"We are looking at having a squad of around 20 senior players and then we'll work on the loan system or bringing two or three young players into the squad.

"I have been in touch with one or two Premier League managers about loans but one or two players I asked about were not available.

"But I'm still awaiting manager's decisions because they've not finalised their squads yet that they want to go into the new season with."
