PURSE HITS OUT AT JONES COMMENTS

Darren Purse has hit out at Dave Jones after he publicly singled out the defender for being at fault for Birmingham's opener at the weekend.

Cardiff manager Jones claimed Purse "fell asleep" as James McFadden eluded a static Bluebirds defence to give Blues a fifth-minute breakthrough in their eventual 2-1 win at Ninian Park.

And although the Cardiff skipper explained he was comfortable to take responsibility for his blunder in private, he did not expect it to be made public through the media.

"If I do something wrong I will always hold my hand up in the dressing room," he said on WalesOnline. "I don't need it emblazoned all over the place for the whole world to see and that is something that disappointed me.

"There's only certain players that do get mentioned by name at certain times. Maybe it's something that will come out in the wash.

"But when things are said in the dressing room they should stay in the dressing room, I think things get dealt with better that way. Hopefully we can then address them together without getting other people involved."
