HOLMES IDEAL FOR SAINTS

Holmes - joins Saints.

Southampton have completed the free-transfer signing of midfielder Lee Holmes from Derby.

The 21-year-old has passed a medical at St Mary's and put pen to paper after his contract with the Rams expired.

Holmes became County's youngest-ever player when he appeared against Grimsby on Boxing Day 2002 aged just 15 years 268 days.

He has also enjoyed successful loan spells at Bradford, Swindon and Walsall.

Holmes is the first signing Southampton have made since unveiling Dutchman Jan Poortvliet as their new head coach.
