PEREPLOTKINS SET FOR RAMS START

Latvian winger Andrejs Pereplotkins is in line to start for Derby in their Championship opener against Doncaster at Pride Park.

The 23-year-old completed his move to the Rams on a season-long loan from Skonto Riga on Thursday and has received international clearance.

Pereplotkins should start on the right of midfield with Kris Commons, another of Paul Jewell's 13 summer signings, on the left.

New-boys Nathan Ellington and Rob Hulse will push for starts up front but midfielder Robbie Savage looks set to be left out having missed the last three friendlies.

Goalkeeper Lewis Price, defender Lewin Nyatanga and midfielder Giles Barnes are on the sidelines, while Ruben Zadkovich and Benny Feilhaber are on international duty at the Olympics.

Doncaster travel to Derby with boss Sean O'Driscoll closely monitoring the fitness of Darren Byfield.

The well-travelled striker joined Rovers in the summer following his release by Bristol City but may be forced to wait to make his competitive debut after struggling with a hernia injury.

Byfield is extremely unlikely to feature at Pride Park and could join Jason Price (foot) and Sean McDaid (dislocated knee) on the sidelines.

New-boys John Spicer, Tomi Ameobi, Jos van Nieuwstadt and James Chambers are all vying to be involved, while defender Matt Mills should slot straight back into the side after converting his loan stay from Manchester City into a permanent deal last month.

Rovers last clashed with the Rams back in September 2006 in the Carling Cup when Doncaster won 8-7 in a thrilling penalty shoot-out after the teams drew 3-3 after extra-time.
