Cousin's first goal for Hull has proved the difference and Arsenal are left to rue a rather lackadaisical approach to things after they'd gone ahead. They lowered the tempo and looked content with a one-goal advantage and have ultimately paid the price.

90+2: Fantastic save from Myhill. Fabregas lines up a shot which seems destined for the top corner, but the Hull keeper flies to his left to make a one-handed save.

66: GOAL: It's in, and Hull are ahead! Arsenal's frailty from set pieces continues as Cousin rises above the Arsenal defence to head into the top corner. What a turnaround!

62: GOAL: Eventually the ball comes out to Geovanni, who makes some space for himself before lashing in an absolute beauty from 30 yards out! It dipped perfectly and beat Almunia all ends up and suddenly Hull are level again.

61: Boateng wins possession but lacks the pace to take on the defence, so he has to turn back. Hull knock it about a bit but look devoid of ideas now.

56: McShane's cross is flicked on by Cousin but Sagna mops up at right back for Arsenal.

55: Almunia is forced to make his first save of the match, a headed effort from Geovanni.

54: Selfish stuff from van Persie, who goes for goal from a tough angle on the right. He shot with his favoured left foot when he really should have looked for a teammate.

52: Nearly a second as Walcott again crosses from the right and Turner fails to clear, but then does brilliantly to block Adebayor's shot. Suddenly Arsenal are in full swing.

50: GOAL: An Arsenal break finally does the trick as Walcott is put into space and then runs at the Hull defence. He manages to cut to the byline and cross the ball into the middle, where an Adebayor touch goes onto McShane, who fumbles the ball over the line under pressure from Fabregas. Not sure who'll be credited with that one.

49: Denilson gets to the byline on the left-hand side and cut a 45-degree pass into the Hull area, but it fails to find a teammate.

48: Marney takes the resulting corner but it's too far and Arsenal clear their lines.

47: Cousin hastles Gael Clichy into conceding a corner and Hull have something of a chance early in the second period. Dawson swings it in and it's headed to the edge of the area where Boateng puts in a shot which is cleared over the crossbar by van Persie.

46: Hull get the second half underway hoping for more of the same, while Arsenal need some sort of spark.

45+2: Half-time at the Emirates and Arsenal have some thinking to do. They were expected to get a hatful today but Hull have closed them down well, remained organised and are fairly good value for a nil-nil scoreline at the break.

45: Myhill does well to claim an Arsenal cross and Hull are just a couple of injury-time minutes away from going into the break at nil-nil.

44: Good move by Arsenal as a Fabregas through-ball finds Eboue, but he tries to set up a teammate when he perhaps should have gine for goal, only for the Hull defence to close in and clear the danger .

43: Walcott beats Dawson and gets in behind the Hull defence, but Turner shadows Adebayor and gets in a brilliant challenge as Walcott tries to find the Togo international.

42: Well I never... That's a long, aimless ball from Arsenal and it must be hugely heartening for Hull, who have been difficult to break down.

41: Fabregas swings in a corner for Arsenal but it doesn't make it past McShane, who was the first man.

40: Walcott runs at the Hull defence but is denied a chance to shoot by a great last-ditch tackle. Hull break down the other end but can't make anything out of a three-on-three situation as Toure puts in a good aerial challenge.

39: Walcott's ball for van Persie finds the Dutchman offside. He remonstrates with the linesman, but the official was spot-on there.

38: Another Arsenal attack breaks down and Myhill will take a goalkick for Hull. Not much intensity in the game at present.

37: Gallas puts in a good sliding tackle to make sure that King's pass doesn't reach Dean Marney over on the right wing.

36: A loose touch from Eboue out on the left wing allows McShane to rob the Arsenal player. And the home side's frustration grows.

35: Arsenal's movement hasn't been nearly as good as we expect and now it's them who fail to put in a threatening final ball.

33: A patient build-up from Hull ends as King is caught offside. Hull are playing some good football now but struggling to find a final ball.

32: Eboue swings the ball in from the left wing but Turner heads clear under no pressure at all.

31: This is a good little spell of possession from Hull and it's resulting in Arsenal frustration. Of course the longer Hull hold the ball the less running they have to do, which always leads to goals late on when Arsenal are involved.

30: Half an hour gone and so far Hull are doing well. Arsenal are yet to click and Myhill is yet to make a meaningful save.

29: Cousin manages to flick the ball on in the direction of King, but Toure deals with the threat well and Almunia gathers.

28: Eboue catches a whack on the lip from Paul McShane but can hardly complain seeing as he slid in on the Hull player. Nevertheless his lip is bleeding and needs some attention.

27: Bacary Sagna gets a cross in from the right wing, but Zayatte is well placed to clear it.

26: Michael Turner's flick-on is straight to Manuel Almunia and Arsenal immediately look to counter-attack.

25: Emmanuel Eboue's first-time cross with his left foot picks out Walcott unmarked in front of goal, but the youngster tries to take a touch and is soon closed down by the defence. He needed to hit that straight away.

24: Walcott chips one to the far post after running in from the right wing, but there are no Arsenal players there to head it in.

23: Hull aren't showing much patience in their build-ups in general, but on this occasion they manage to set up Geovanni for a shot 30 yards out. Unfortunately he shoots high and wide.

22: Van Persie swings the corner in but its headed clear, and Boateng brings it forward to earn a free-kick and relieve the pressure momentarily.

21: Another shot is blocked by the Hull defence and Arsenal have another corner.

20: A long searching ball forward finds Cousin, but he heads it straight to Fabregas and the Gunners come forward once more.

18: It's looking ominous for Hull as Arsenal dink the ball around inside the visitors' penalty area. Only a series of blocks keeps the scores level.

16: Superb challenge by Andy Dawson. Fabregas' vision produced an excellent through-ball to Walcott, but with the winger bearing down on goal Dawson stuck his foot round the Arsenal player and robbed him.

15: Emmanuel Adebayor has the ball in the back of the net, but the whistle had already gone for a push.

14: Cesc Fabregas finds space on the edge of the area and unleashes a shot, but he pulls it wide of the target.

13: Boaz Myhill comes out and claims the free-kick and Hull break forward. King is put through on goal after finding a gap in the defence, but the flag goes off for offside. Very tight call there.

12: Arsenal win a useful free-kick out on the right-hand side of the penalty area, which van Persie will swing in.

11: Arsenal are taking shape now and Theo Walcott is getting involved. The Emirates crowd show their appreciation for his attempted trickery even though it doesn't come off on this occasion.

9: Arsenal defend well and bring the ball forward to win a corner down the other end with the help of Kamil Zayatte. That comes to nothing, but Kolo Toure makes a darting break forward and plays a one-two which nearly leads to a chance on goal.

8: Hull clear the corner through Cousin, who scoots down the other end and wins a corner for Hull. That was a good counter-attacking opportunity though and he probably could have done better.

7: Normal business begins as Arsenal win their first corner after sending in a threatening cross.

6: A quick mention for Hull manager Phil Brown, who has transformed himself from the baggy tracksuit and baseball cap-wearing manager to a slick businessman-like figure with a nifty new facial hair look. Or at least I'm told it's the same man. Difficult to believe.

5: The hastling gets a little overeager as George Boateng hacks down Denilson and concedes a free-kick.

4: Gallas does return, but Arsenal are stuck in their own half for the moment as Hull hastle them, fighting for everything.

3: William Gallas goes up for a header with Daniel Cousin and a clash of heads leaves the Arsenal skipper on his rear end looking rather dazed. After a bit of attention from the medics he looks like he'll be good to go.

2: Looking at the two line-ups you would say that Hull are in for a hiding this afternoon, but they start the match with a smart passing move which only breaks down through a loose touch from Marlon King.

1: Robin van Persie gets us underway at the Emirates under lovely blue skies.

Hull boss Phil Brown drafts George Boateng back into his midfield, and Geovanni is also recalled. It means Peter Halmosi and Bernard Mendy are on the bench from the side that drew against Everton last week.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, as expected, restores his senior players for the Premier League clash against Hull after unleashing his youngsters on Sheffield United earlier in the week. Wenger makes his 11 changes but keeps Carlos Vela, who scored a hat-trick in that Carling Cup tie, on the bench at the Emirates Stadium. Mikael Silvestre, having recovered from injury, is named as a substitute for the first time since arriving from Manchester United.
