In a poor first half Danny Crow should have opened the scoring for the visitors when he broke through after 15 minutes, but shot straight at Gavin Ward before Ryan Jarvis missed another good chance a minute later.

The tedium of the match was briefly lifted in the second period when County sub Lawrie Dudfield barged his way through to shoot over on 53 minutes before Stephen Hunt headed wide soon after.

Roberts had to clear off his own line from Jason Lee before he rose to meet Wes Baynes' free-kick to put the home side into an undeserved lead on 77 minutes.

And when Ward somehow saved Lee's header from point-blank range you could tell it was going to be the home side's day.
